The Godthaab Choir is an amateur choir from Copenhagen / Denmark. The choir is started in 1983 and consists of about 40 members.
The choir's repertoire is classical and much of it is from the Scandinavian area.
The choir performs about 4 concerts every year.
History
The choir was started in 1983 under the name "Ascaniuskoret". The choir got the name "Godthaabskoret" (Godthaab Choir) in 1996, named after the church in which the choir is singing, the Godthaabchurch / Frederiksberg.
Conductor
The choir's conductor is Flemming P. Jensen, who has conducted the choir since 1993. Flemming P. Jensen has been studying music at the university of Copenhagen, and is also a composer. Lately he has composed two Missa Brevis.
Music
The Godthaab Choir's repertoire consists of a lot of differrent composers, e.g. Mendelssohn, Knut Nystedt, Morten Lauridsen and Niels LaCour.
